Sadly, it’s time for the last official club drive of the year, our annual Fall Color Tour. This year we’re going to go up over the Mirror Lake road.
PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS IS ONE OF OUR FEW SUNDAY DRIVES, to give some of our members who work on Saturday a chance to join in. We are keeping October 14 for a rain date just in case. Keep an eye on the website and the BMCU email list for confirmation.
We’ll meet at Hogle Zoo (end of the parking lot nearest the mouth of Emigration Canyon) at 9:00 am for a 9:30 departure through Emigration Canyon, proceeding East on I-80 we will have a secondary rendezvous at Silver Creek Junction exit 146 (after you exit go left over I-80) at a Sinclair Gas station around 10:00, leaving at 10:30.
The Mirror Lake area is a Federal fee area, so each car will need to pay the $3 fee (there are some discounts available). Please plan to bring exact change, as the fee station is not always manned so we may need to use the self-service envelopes.

Proceeding on Highway 40 towards Heber we will turn off on SR-248 into Kamas where we’ll pick up SR-150 to head up over the pass. We will be stopping in Soapstone Basin for a picnic lunch. There is a turnoff to the right (paved) that we will take to get to the picnic area. The spot we will be stopping at has restrooms, but no tables so we will need to bring our own chairs or picnic blankets. I’d also recommend packing a sweater or jacket, as we’ll be up at pretty high altitude and it may be a bit chilly.
After lunch we folks can either head back or join the group up heading up over Bald Mountain pass.
