Mt. Nebo Loop drive that Jerry of MGTD fame organized for September 15th. There were but four cars:Rich’s TR250, Roger’s MGB, Jerry’s MGTD, and my Elise. There were eight people all together. We traveled south on Redwood Rd through Saratoga Springs, then past Camp Williams and west of Utah Lake on to Elberta. We headed eastward to Goshen, then south to Nephi. Headed north along these roads were many dozens and perhaps a few hundred cyclists.
We stopped in Nephi briefly at Reeds Drive Inn, then headed up Salt Creek Road to the Nebo Loop Road. A few cows were jay-walking, but were hardly a nuisance. There were many cattlemen along the way hauling trailers up to fetch the cows to bring them down to lower range for the winter. We stopped again at Payson Lakes and ate picnic lunches around a table and talked about little British cars, car shows, travel, old times, wildlife, and my wife’s grandmother’s recipe book that she prepared for her extended family. We had many copies to drop off afterwards to her cousins who live in Springville and nearby.
After a very pleasant lunch, we descended to Payson where we waved our good-byes and parted paths. The weather was lovely, the company was friendly and interesting, the cars ran well despite a small problem with Jerry’s TD that went away as mysteriously as it came, and the scenery was spectacular. It was a great event and all who missed it should be kicking themselves for missing out.
