For this year’s Fall Colour Tour we will renew a BMCU tradition of circumnavigate Mount Nebo. We will stop for a picnic on route at Bear Creek, so plan on bringing a lunch or picking something up on the way. Also, better bring some warm clothing as it may be cooler at the higher elevations.
Due to the distance we will meet at 8:30 AM at the parking lot of the R.C. Willey Clearance Outlet 9000 South and Redwood Road. We will leave at 9AM.
Directions
We will go south on Redwood to Lehi (SR-68) and continue south along the west side of Utah Lake to Elberta, then go east on US-6 to Goshen, then south through Goshen canyon on SR-141. This is a great road but watch for pot holes.
We will then proceed along the west shore of Mona Lake and on into Nephi and Walker Bros. Phillips 66 / Wendy’s truck stop at SR-132, where we will make a short stop. Those who didn’t bring a lunch for the later picnic stop at Bear Creek can get food for the picnic at Wendy’s or the truck.
After this stop we will go east on SR-132 until the turn for Nebo loop. We will go north onto the Mt. Nebo Loop, stopping at Bear Creek for a picnic. After lunch we will continuing over the loop which emerges at Santaquin canyon in Payson. From there everyone is on their own tour for the trip home.
It’s a great drive, likely to be a little chilly at the higher elevations, so remember to bring warm gear.
Thanks to Paul who directions for the 2006 tour I shamelessly plagiarized.
