What can be said, other than if you were not on the Hobble Creek Run and Scavenger Hunt, you missed a TOTALLY AWESOME event. It started with a large turn out at the meeting place, where to announce the Driver’s meeting, Jon Hermance and I entertained the assembled masses with a serenade from our brass horns. Then, Ritt explained the guidelines for the Scavenger Hunt and wished everyone good luck. BTW, we did take a detour through a church parking lot to see if we could find a van with stick figures on the back window. Wonder what the church goers thought, seeing our rendition of the British Invasion!
Off we went, headed for Alpine and the group waiting for us there. After a short stop, we took off for the Canyon Rd that runs along the base of Timpagonos Mt. and leads to the world famous Purple Turtle! We hit State St for a while, ran over to the mouth of Provo Canyon and then south on University, past the new Temple and turned east, right after that ugly pink building.
In no time, we were in Springville and heading towards our lunch spot. And this is where it went wrong for several cars. Evidently, the members were REALLY hungry because they kept turning onto every road that they could, in an attempt to find the picnic spot. I must have really thrown them off by using the work “fork” in the driving directions! Finally, everyone found the Jolley’s Ranch Campground and the nicely shaded picnic area with lots of parking for our Britmobiles. What a fantastic location for a picnic! Beautiful grounds, and mountains covered with all shades of color on the leaves. Good job, Charles, for getting your photographic skill shown on the Fox evening news!
Welcome to the new members who came with us on the Run. From the smiles and comments, I believe we’ll see you again in the near future. BTW, there just might be another event coming up fairly soon. Keep an eye on your email. Info is going to be coming your way!
