Yes, there is only a little more than a week until Field Day, but what you may REALLY want to be thinking about, is the Tiny Tour to Logan for the Cache Valley Cruise In on July 1st. If you are on a car show overload from Field Day, then give some SERIOUS thought to participating in our FIRST Tiny Tour to Logan for possibly Utah’s largest car show. Avoid the show crowds and go for a nice, peaceful, Summer’s evening drive.
You’ve always wanted to go on one of our Memorial Day Tours but didn’t want to spend that much time. This is THE ticket! We will leave the SLC area Friday afternoon and drive to Logan, using much of the same route that the Memorial Day Tour used; north out of Brigham City and using back roads, drop into Logan from the west. This is one of the best kept secrets for scenic drives in Utah.
Friday evening, check into a hotel of your choice (Jill and I are staying at the BW Baugh) and enjoy a peaceful night in Logan. Please make your reservations ASAP. Word has it that the hotels in and around Logan fill up quickly and you may not want to be sleeping in or next to your car some where! So make your hotel reservations NOW.
Rumor has it that Keith and Liz Mott are going to be hosting a BBQ dinner for BMCU members. Be sure to bring what you’d like to have for dinner; hot dogs, hamburgers, steak or whatever you want. This BBQ is most certainly BYOM (Bring Your Own Meat).
Saturday we’ll head to the car show grounds to check out all the hot rods from all over the area. Keith & Liz will be showing their Healey and ?. Later in the afternoon or early evening, we’ll head out for a nice evening drive back to the SLC area, making certain that all driving is done with plenty of daylight.
The route home may be a retracing of the route to Logan, thereby avoiding Sardine Canyon. YEA!!! The toughest part of this whole trip may be driving past Maddox’s Restaurant and not stopping. Hmmm…perhaps a quick stop for some awesomely delicious dinner rolls!!
Here it is in a nut shell:
Tiny Tour to Logan, Friday, July 1st and Saturday July 2nd
What you’ll need:
- Your vehicle (hopefully your LBC)
- Hotel reservation for Friday night or maybe Saturday also if you stay longer
- What you’d like to eat at our Friday night BBQ at Keith & Liz’s home
This is a short, easy drive to a beautiful location. Lot’s of COOL cars from all over the Inter mountain West. Sound like fun? I know it’s going to be. In fact, let me know if you’re interested AND be sure to make your hotel reservations, right away!
From Keith:
The rumors are true. There WILL be a barbecue at my house on Friday evening for all BMCU members starting around 6 PM. Bring your own meat and whatever you want to drink. We’ll provide the rest. More information about the Cruise-In can be found at:

The sock hop on Friday evening is pretty lame, so even a boring barbecue at my house will be better! The Logan City fireworks display will start around 10, so some may want to head up to the USU Stadium later in the evening. It’s a pretty decent display for a small town. For those who might want to spend more time, the Main Street Parade on Saturday evening is a lot of fun. It’s Logan’s biggest outdoor party. Thousands and thousands of people line the streets to watch the cars. The police and Cruise-In officials keep things pretty much under control, and it’s a lot of fun to watch or participate. The Cruise-In is a big car show; last year there were almost 1000 cars. Although the show is mostly hot rods and American muscle cars from the 60’s and 70’s, there is a smattering of very old vehicles and true sports cars. I have entered my 62 Healey and my 65 Sprite for the past few years, and they typically get a lot of attention because they are unique. If anyone in the club wants to enter their car, I can save you a shady spot next to me. The spots are first-come first-serve, but I only live about a mile from the fairgrounds, so I can run down and grab some nice shady spots as soon as they mark the grass. You are allowed to take you car in and out of the show whenever you want, so it’s no problem to drive it away in the evening, and you can participate in the parade if you want to. You do NOT have to have your car in the show all three days; many people only put their car in on Saturday.
