On Saturday September 30th the Salt Lake group and points north will meet at the parking lot of the IHC office at 11400 south and Redwood Road at 9:30 for a 10:00 departure, there is plenty of parking. You will Drive south on Redwood Road to the Chevron Top Stop station (36 W 1400 N, Saratoga Springs) for a drain and gain and connect with Utah county members. Steen will meet you there to be the guide.
Depart at 11:00 and drive south on highway 68 west of Utah Lake on a nice newly paved road for a lot of the way. Turn left on highway 6 at the old Sinclair station(and we mean old) and go through Goshen and Genola to Santaquin. Drive through Santaquin and under the freeway and turn left at the light in front of the Maverick Station. We’ll travel north about 2 miles on highway 198 to 12800 south and turn left at the Lewis Feild sign. Drive .2 miles to our daughter’s ranch where we will have lunch prior to our drive over the Nebo Loop.
We’ll plan to arrive there at about noon and try to leave for the drive at 1:00 or shortly after. After lunch we will continue north on highway 198 and turn right on 800 south going east and turn right on Canyon Road then turn right up Payson Canyon. We will plan to make a few short stops in the Canyon for sightseeing and exit the Nebo Loop onto highway 132 turning right toward Nephi. We are planning about 2 hours to drive over the Nebo Loop.
Returning north there are a few options. You can hop on the freeway in Nephi or go under the freeway and stop for a gain and drain at the Chevron station in Nephi then head west to Main Street and turn right and head toward Santaquin. On that road is a charming country store called The Red Barn if any of you would like to stop there. It’s a fun store. From there you head north to Santaquin Main Street and then either turn right and get on the freeway there or turn left and retrace your route around the west of the lake to Redwood Road. Utah county members can turn right and either go on the freeway or go on the side roads through Payson, Salem, Spanish Fork, Springville and Provo.
It will take pretty much all day, but should be a nice day with beautiful scenery and great company.
