Although this event was a couple of weeks ago, here is some info on the Alpine Loop Run & BBQ. My perspective of the event was a bit different than most, so some parts are necessarily missing.
At 8:15AM we climbed into the truck and headed for the grocery store to pickup the fresh cut tomatoes, onions and lettuce. Then on the road to head to our pavilion that Drew had reserved for us, back in February. Not knowing exactly what to expect, we were prepared for a thorough cleaning of the tables and grill. A pleasant surprise awaited us as the area was the cleanest we’ve seen it in three years. By 10AM we were ready for a text from Drew letting us know it was time to put the charcoal in the grill, douse it with starter fluid and LIGHT THE FIRE!
At 11:20AM the first of the hungry Alpine Loop Tourers saw the Union Jack flying and headed towards our pavilion in the South Fork Canyon Park. Our timing was perfect and the burgers were ready to start coming off the grill. No one had to wait very long for the exquisite cuisine prepared by Chefs Jim, Roger and sous chef Jill. As is often the case, the pavilion became pretty quiet as the food was consumed while the talking slowed.
Then it was time to wish everyone a safe journey home, put out the coals, and to leave the pavilion cleaner than we found it. Special thanks to Clayton and Sharon for helping with this process. Even as we were pulling away, the next users were setting up their picnic on the tables. This is such a beautiful site for use by the BMCU. Thanks, Drew, for finding it for us.
There have been numerous pictures and videos put up on the club Facebook page and/or this email group site that I’m presuming that you have seen or should look for.
