We’ve often not done club drives in July as it’s just too dern hot! So for a little change and a chance to drive we decided to try an early morning run up the Mirror Lake road. I’ll admit I wasn’t sure how many folks would be willing to get up a the crack of dawn, and figured we’d have maybe 5-6 cars on the drive.
I was very pleasantly surprised to see I was way off my estimate. In the end we had 26 cars meet up at the 7-Eleven in Kamas. Roger and Jill provided some donuts (yum!) and folks gassed up and chatted in the relatively cool morning air. From Kamas we headed up into the Uintahs on the Mirror Lake road. We have driven this road on past drives, but often stop at Bald Mountain pass. This time we headed further over the road all the way to the Ruth Lake trailhead.
At the trailhead we took time to chat and check out all the cars, and gave an impromptu car show to all the hikers heading into the wilderness. From here folks headed off in their individual directions, with some heading on to Evanston and home, at least one group going fishing, and others enjoying the many views and stops along the road.
Thanks to all for coming up to my town for a nice drive. A big thanks Roger and Jill Davis for leading the Salt Lake contingent, Ron Jensen for organizing and leading the Provo group, and Ron Christensen for the photos.
