What do swimming goggles, a chafing dish and a flock of turkeys have in common?
If you were there, you know. If you weren’t there, then you missed THE BEST Alpine Loop & BBQ since we started having this drive back in the 1980’s!
The weather was PERFECT; cool and sunny . The roads were PERFECT; smooth and twisty. The NEW route was PERFECT; virtually no traffic with incredibly beautiful scenes. Uphill and down, the group snaked their way through at least SIX canyons with the Fall colors painting the hillsides. The sounds of British iron echoed off the mountains as the rainbow colored conglomerate scared up a large flock of wild turkeys.
The 60+ members, new and old, had a drive that they will be talking about for years. If you have not seen the picture that Charles took and was used on the Channel 13 weather report, then go to the British Motor Club of Utah Facebook page for lots more pics. With all the pictures being taken by the participants, I’m certain that more photos will be appearing to add to the documentation of this event.
When the members pulled into the Big Springs Pavilion site, they found parking reserved just for them. The smoke from the burgers on the grill served to enhance the appetites that were gnawing at the traveler’s stomachs. With the food ready to be consumed, the group sat down to eat and the chatter about the new route and it’s scenery filled the pavilion.
Welcome to the new members who chose to make this their first BMCU event. I heard nothing but positive comments from them and saw lots of smiling faces. Glad you’re driving with us. We’ll see you October 8th, for another incredible drive through the mountains to enjoy the BMCU Fall Color Tour.
Thanks to everyone for joining us on another wonderful BMCU drive.
