Forget driving to “4 Corners” we’re heading to “2 Corners.” The long-awaited return to that missing chunk of NE Utah overlain by SW Wyoming.
We’ll meet at Hogle Zoo at 9am for a 9:30 departure. The route is 100% freeway free (we go over one and under another). We’ll head up Emigration Canyon where there are currently two very short one-lane sections where they are doing road cuts to widen the road a bit at some tight curves.
We will recombobulate at the top of Emigration to get everyone back together. From there on it’s clear sailing.
Down the hill at the “T” turn left at the stop sign onto HWY 65. It is up and over the hills towards East Canyon Resort and around the reservoir. Continue straight past the junction with HWY 66. Stay on HWY 65 on the rolling 2-lane towards Henefer.
At Henefer, turn right at the stop sign and proceed through town, over the overpass and head right (South) towards Echo and Coalville. At the stop sign in the mouth of Echo Canyon turn right and go under the railroad and freeway. Follow the road to Coalville and along the east side of Echo Reservoir into town.
In the past we’ve stopped at the Chevron. This year we suggest we go a bit through town, past the Chevron and turn right at the signs to I-80. There is a Sinclair Station and a Subway for a drain and gain.
Folks may choose to meet us there. A GUESS as to when we would be there is 10:45-11:00?
After the drain and gain we’ll head back through Coalville and turn right (East) at Chalk Creek Road. Follow that road up the valley with lots of green, new calves, lambs, and even some foals.
At the famous 2 Corners there is a nice grassy area for our picnic lunch.
Remember: bring your lunch and drinks; chairs or picnic blanket.
The drive length is 79 miles one way. All paved, no freeway; top posted speed is 55mph. Weather is predicted hot in the valley so a trip up in the hills will be cooler. 0% chance of rain is predicted. And we all know that comes with a 100% money back guarantee.
See you there.
