The early Summer car shows are done. The Independence Day Parades have ended. Pioneers Day is still a few weeks off. What shall we do?
It’s the MORNING MOUNTAIN RUN!!! This was a big hit last season, so we’re going again. It’s the perfect drive, between the 4th and the 24th celebrations.
When: Saturday, morning, July 15
Where: Meet at Smith’s parking lot, 3470 E Bengal Blvd, Cottonwood Heights. Gas & restrooms available. Give yourself time if using either of these. 🙂
Departing: 7am! From Smith’s. Utah County members using Provo Canyon, plan on meeting the SLC group at the 7-11, 220 S Main St., in Kamas at 8:30am.
Here’s the description of the route for the Morning Mountain Run. It is an out and back route, approximately 83 miles one-way, from Cottonwood Heights.
- Gather in Smith’s parking lot, 3470 E Bengal Blvd (7800 S)., Cottonwood Heights.
- East on Bengal Blvd to Wasatch Blvd & north to Big Cottonwood Rd. and right into the canyon, SR 190.
- Up Big Cottonwood Canyon. Just past the firehouse, look for the signs for Guardsman Pass. It will be a SHARP left turn.
- Over Guardsman Pass and down to the FORK IN THE ROAD. Bear right onto Pine Canyon Rd. DO NOT HEAD TOWARDS PARK CITY!!!
- At the golf course, take the left fork. Then left at the stop sign. East.
- Continue to Francis, SR 32. Turn left towards Kamas at the Francis/Kamas intersection.
- Drain & Gain at the 7-11 in Kamas.
- South to the Francis intersection (stop sign) and turn left towards Wolf Creek and Hanna, SR 35.
- The Country Store, the Mercantile, and Hanna Hilton is our turn around location.
- The one-way distance approximately 83 miles. Be sure to remember to FILL UP your tank!
Members from the Provo area should meet us at the 7-11 in Kamas at 8am.
Remember, we are LEAVING the Smith’s parking lot at 7am.
