It’s been very hot and dry this summer. Here is an easy remedy to beat the heat. The Early Morning Mountain Run! This is not a destination run, but it is scenic, with smooth and twisty roads of approximately 150 miles! And the best part? The run will be in the coolest temperatures you’ve probably felt in several months!
**Here’s what you need to know**
Date: Saturday, August 9
Meet at Smith’s Food & Drug, 3470 E. Bengal Blvd. (7800 S), Cottonwood Heights, at 7 am! Departure up Big Cottonwood Canyon will be at 7:30am SHARP! BEAT THE HEAT!
There is gas in this lot (sorry, no Ethanol free) and restrooms in the store.
The “On the Run” gas station in Heber, 1540 U.S. 40, (southeast side of Heber) is where we’ll meet with members from North and South at approximately 8:30am. This station DOES have Ethanol Free gas!
Top up your gas tank! No gas stations for approximately 100 miles from this location! This is also a good time to use the restroom! Full Fuel Tank + empty bladder = comfortable drive
From Heber we’ll head up Daniel’s Canyon to Strawberry Reservoir where we’ll turn right to gather the group and use restrooms before continuing on to Indian Creek Rd. This is an awesome, newly paved road that is twisty and smooth.
We’ll head up to an incredible overlook before descending to the Sheep Creek/U.S. 6 Jct where we’ll Turn right and down the canyon to Spanish Fork and to your homes. Folks can also head back through Heber if they’d like.
NOTE: For those of you who live north or south of Salt Lake City and do not want to meet at 7am in Cottonwood Heights, please feel free to meet us at 8:30am at the “On the Run” gas station in Heber, 1540 U.S. 40.
