Going to be hot and crispy, so come with us Saturday morning and escape the heat!
Saturday, August 8, we’ll be heading up into the mountains. Acknowledging the bone-melting heat we’re dealing with right now we’re going to drive a very different route that is closer to Salt Lake City and will get folks back to their homes before the people melt and our little cars overheat.
Here are the details:
The Drive: We’ll be driving up Little Cottonwood Canyon
Meet up: Smith’s Market, 3470 E Bengal Blvd, Salt Lake City, UT 84121
When: 7 am for a 7:30 am departure
(yes, really really early — keeping to the cool!)
We’ll drive up the canyon and stop at the top near Alta to soak up the cool and enjoy the views. Once regathered we’ll head back down the canyon and those who wish can head over to Penny Ann’s Cafe for some breakfast before heading back to our hopefully air conditioned homes.
Penny Ann’s Cafe: 7495 Union Park Ave, Sandy, UT 84093
Speaking of air conditioning, please come even if you are not comfortable bring your British car given the heat. You are always welcome to come in your daily driver and enjoy the drive and the views in your comfy air conditioned modern car. No judgement here!
You may also want to bring a windbreaker or jacket as it can be cool up at the top of the canyon.
NOTE: please be aware of road closures on Fort Union Blvd AND Bengal Blvd near Wasatch Blvd. A new water line is being installed and those two streets are closed at approximately 3000 East.
