Hey hey, Boo Boo! Okay, so maybe not everybody is familiar with the Saturday morning antics of Yogi Bear and Boo Boo. Suffice it to say they are fond of relieving visitors to Jellystone Park of their pick-a-nick baskets.
But they should not be a problem for those intrepid BMCU members who wish to venture out and get a taste of more fall colors along the Mt. Nebo Scenic Byway this coming Saturday, October 3rd. Yes, October already! But the skies should be sunny, the roads in good shape, other than some repaving in Mona. This is a longer tour, nearly 200 miles round trip from my house near downtown Salt Lake, near Liberty Park.
We’ll meet up at the Saratoga Springs Maverik at 9:30 for a 10ish departure. West side of Utah Lake to ELberta, a short jaunt down US 6 to Goshen, then along a twisty two lane to Mona, then on to Nephi. We’ll stop at the city park for a picnic lunch. After a hopefully bear free meal, we’ll head on to the Nebo Loop National Scenic Byway, with a drain and gain at the Chevron station at the I-15 exit. A nice long drive through some spectacular mountain terrain, red, yellow, orange, green colors ablaze! And maybe a few black cows. Then down into Payson, where you can get on I-15 and head home, or take Main Street back south to Santaquin to US6, Elberta, and home north along Redwood Road. Or up through Salem and Spanish Fork.
