When we arrived for the annual Miner’s Day Parade last year, the weather was cold and miserable. We had 4 brave BMCU members show, and quite frankly, I was surprised to see that many.
This year the weather forecast was once again questionable, however, as luck would have it the sun came out and so did the BMCU. I quit counting cars when I hit 30, Roger Dotson said he counted 35. A long way from the four last year.
As is customary, we met at the top of Main Street for our coffee, donuts, eggs, and anything else we could find along Main Street. At first a few cars, then a few more, then a few more. They just kept coming! At 11:00 the bag pipes started playing, the sirens started blaring, and the flags started waving. The parade began. The BMCU were near the front and down the hill we went. The announcers were amazed to see the line of British Cars. They kept commenting on the long line and I kept wondering, “Where will they all park?”
The crowds were especially appreciative and cheered our little cars. And, as luck would have it, the Park City Rotary Club came through with flying colours and had plenty of parking available in the Park. They even stuck an old Studebaker next to us.
From here we enjoyed delicious burgers, dogs, and acceptable beverage. We talked cars and some even stayed to watch the kids race around the Park in their three legged, gunnie sacked, and wheel borrow events. There was also the annual drilling and mucking contests that some may have stayed for.
Just a great day and a great turn out. Unfortunately we did not get a list of those attending, however, you know who you are and we offer our thanks for a great time.
