There have been times this summer when I’ve wondered if someone moved me to the Pacific Northwest — rain, rain, and more rain. Living in a desert as we do the rain is a blessing, but still it does make it less appealing to get out there and drive.
For this year’s Alpine Loop run the rain stayed away and we had a lovely blue sky over us for the day. Starting at the usual mall meeting spot we meandered over the surface roads to the first stop right before entering the Canyon. A big thanks to Roger Davis for figuring out the route — I’m glad I remembered to print up a few copies before leaving the house!
We picked up a few more folks at the south stop and over the loop we drove. The earlier start time seems to be working well, as we had a pretty open drive up and over. We continued on to a new lunch spot this year, at Big Springs Park in South Fork (off Provo Canyon). We set up under the pavilion and had a nice lunch while enjoying the views. After lunch we all went our separate ways to head back home. Next year we’ll organize something a little more specific for the way out, as there are a number of nice roads in the area to explore.
Thanks to all who attended for humoring me with the new lunch spot — a break from tradition, but it seemed to be well received.
