The weather could not have been better for the annual “Annual Run Around The Lake” drive! The turnout was impressive, we completely filled the Checker Auto parking lot. During the greeting and meeting of old and new members, some great stories of how some of the cars were acquired, how far from being brought home in boxes, to how much work was involved, and where they are now, was fantastic. We even had some joking comments of “look at all the LBCs and no flat bed trailer”, which really came back to bite, (right Kevin?).
We got under way minus one temporally stubborn MGB. The drive north on US 89, through Ogden along Harrison Blvd was very pleasant. The leader (Terry) and group stopped just at the mouth of the canyon to wait for the stragglers, which included me. The group tightened up the ranks and headed up the canyon. The reservoir no longer was in the grip of the ice, with several hardy boaters testing the fishing. Traffic was sparse as we traveled around Eden past the mix of old farm houses, cattle and multi-million dollar homes, and then into and through Liberty. The climb up the divide was a steep one, that all cars were able to handle, albeit some slower than others. The drop down into North Ogden gave all the cars a good brake test, along with a great view of the city.
Kirt’s Drive Inn welcomed us with their “Welcome British Car Club” posted on their main sign. We filled half of their parking lot and enjoyed some lunch. Our cars attracted a great deal of attention from passersby, and even some that have LBCs at home in various stages of completion, that stopped to look at the impromptu car show. After lunch good bys were said and the cars started departing to other destinations and home.
We had several new members on their first run with the club, Jerry (missed his last name) (MGTD), Sean and Courtnie Himle (midget), Wes Himle (MGA) (sorry if I missed anyone new). Jim Stover and Linda J. (TR6), Joe Ford (MGB), Terry Rees and grandson (GT6), Mitch Johnson (Spitfire), David Christensen (MGB), Aaron Sphar (“Bullitt –mustang), Darin Graber (MGTF), Duff Lawson and Chris Dunbeck (Mini), John Progess (MGTF), Gary, Sandy and Margaux Lindstrom (TR3A), Stephanie and Larry Farrington (TR6), Richard Weyland (TR250), Clayton and Sharon Merchant (MGA), Rich Goodman (TR7), Steven Nelson (MGA Coupe), Rob Foye (TR4), Kevin Cowan (MBG), Jon Maclean (Solstice), Roger Dotson and Jamie Monroe (MGA), Keri and Karlie Bruce (TR6) round out the great group. Thanks for making this Drive successful!
BMCU member Sean Himle put together this video of the day’s drive.

NOTE: the background music may not be safe for everyone’s work, so you may need to turn off the speakers. Sean did a great job on the video, though. I welcome any videos like this for future drive reports!
