WOW! HOLY COW!!!
When we first thought to do an impromptu drive/brunch on Thursday night, we figured that we may have three or maybe four people show up. With only the 24 hour notice, our expectations were not very high.
What happened was AMAZING!!! At my last count, there were at least 15 LBCs and probably a few more that I didn’t count. We even had three new members join us: John and Daphne in their beautiful Triumph Spitfire and Ed Schuyler in his immaculate Sunbeam Alpine!!! As predicted, the weather was perfect for the drive along Wasatch Blvd to Draper. There were so many of us, that I actually had to have a drivers meeting before we left Smith’s parking lot. One of the items suggested by Jill, was that when we arrive at Penny Ann’s, if the place is jammed, we will go across the parking lot to the Corner Bakery.
Her forethought saved the day. When we pulled into the parking lot at Penny Ann’s, there were lots of people standing around outside waiting to get in and there was no parking anywhere close to the restaurant. So, the group continued through the lot to the Corner Bakery where there was plenty of space for our “mobile car show.” Inside, we took over the western section of the restaurant and the Corner Bakery folks made us feel right at home and quickly served everyone.
After a tasty brunch, we conversed in the parking lot before setting out on our own routes toward home. Several of us ran out to the Maverick station, kitty corner across I-15 from the State Prison and topped off our tanks with ethanol free gasoline.
Thanks to all that showed up to have Saturday brunch with us.
Keep an eye on these emails and our Facebook page, for you never know when someone is going to plan another IMPROMPTU DRIVE.
