It was a dark and stormy night…
…the night before the annual Alpine Loop drive. Luckily the sun shown brightly (if not warmly) on the morning of and a good group of hardy LBC souls gathered to drive the loop. As we did last year, we scheduled the drive later in the season and a little earlier in the morning to try and avoid the worst of the traffic, bicyclists, parking, 5th wheel trailers, you name it. Once again it was a successful tactic and the loop presented us with relatively clear roads and the beginnings of some beautiful colors.
Other than a few folks that took a slightly longer route towards Cascade Springs we all made it over the mountain in good time and into Big Springs Park. At the Park we were greeted by Roger and Jill Davis and Jim Stover with the grill hot and the burgers and dogs sizzling away. Conversation and Lunch with tasty dessert (thanks Jill!) was enjoyed by all. After the victuals were consumed folks headed for home, some up over the Guardsman road and others back down Provo Canyon to home.
A big thanks to Roger, Jill, and Jim for organizing the food and feeding the masses. As I look at the weather report ahead (snow! in September!) I will look back on the day’s drive with happy memories.
Joining us on the driver were: Roger & Jill Davis, Drew Frink, Jim Stover, John & Barb Progess, Paul Jaroch, Rog & Mary Foye, Clayton Merchant, Dave Spendlove & Kayla Leatham, Pat & Donna Rich, Barry & Denny Blackett, Andy Huston, Rich Weyland & Trukk, Dennis & Sandy Clark, Roger Dotson & Jamie Monroe, Grant Clayton & guest, Merv Brown & Mary Eatrough (sp?), Mike Feidler, Robert Kelsch, Cindy & Shaylee Wardell, Jerry Bletzacker & guest, Jon, Susan, & Laura Hermance. My apologies for any misspellings, some of y’all may need to take some handwriting lessons.
-Drew Frink (with Maggie the Morris Minor leading the way)
