Ok, gang, as promised, here is some of the info that you’ve been asking about. Thanks for your patience.
The SLC and Northern folks will meet at 7am for a 7:30am wheels up. The location is 3923 S. Wasatch Blvd; the Einstein’s parking lot. From there, it is an easy entrance onto eastbound I-80.
The Southern members and those east of the Wasatch front, should meet us at the Silver Eagle/Subway on US 40 on the eastern edge of Heber. We should arrive there at approximately 8:15am, so plan accordingly. The Silver Eagle station also has ethanol free gas for those who partake.
The next Drain & Gain stop will be in Duchesene at the Shell station which is on the right, about halfway into town.
Lunch will be the ever popular Shotgun Lunch in Vernal. The Maverick on US 40 is supposed to have ethanol free gas.
From there, the next Drain & Gain will be at the Kum & Go in Rangely. Then the climb up and over the Douglas Pass, dealing with some road construction on the south side of the Pass, and then into Grand Junction. We should arrive in GJ at the Clarion Hotel, around mid afternoon.
Drain & Gain Pit Stops:
- Heber – Leaving town, on right – Silver Eagle – Ethanol free available – (38 miles)
- Duchesne – near town center, on right – Shell – (70 miles)
- Vernal – West side of town – SHOTGUN LUNCH – (58 miles)
- Rangely – entering town, right side – Kum & Go – (55 miles)
- Grand Junction – Clarion Hotel – (90 miles)
There are many things to do Sunday in Grand Junction. Here are a few ideas that members have mentioned.
Colorado Nat’l Monument
Colorado National Monument Loop

As you can see, the Monument is literally right outside Grand Junction. There have been some road repairs on the road, but the road is now open, although expect some delays while new guard rail is installed.
Grand Mesa Loop is another, longer route.
