Well, if you slept in, then, like Rich said, you missed it. This was the largest Alpine Loop Run that the BMCU has ever done. The founding members should be happy that the club they founded is alive and doing well. Great job, members. It was an awesome sight to see all of you coming up the road and then taking over the parking lot and pavilion.
The weather was wonderful, the Fall colors, although muted this year, were amazing, the American Fork Canyon was jammed with people out enjoying a perfect day. And the 46+ Club members that were there also, had a great time adding to the color and excitement with their vibrant British cars. Rich did an awesome job getting everyone assembled and led into the mountains to the BBQ. From what I heard, no one got lost this year! Good job, Rich!
Jill and I pulled into the BBQ location just before 9:30am to find a parking lot full of cars! There was no place to park and we knew that the rest of the members were on their way. One by one, people returned to their cars and we immediately blocked off the spots with the Yellow Caution tape you saw when you arrived. If you weren’t on the Run, I’m pretty certain that the parking area looked like a large yellow spider web of Caution tape strung just about everywhere.
The burgers and dogs were cooked, people kept their social distance pretty well and the pavilion that Drew had reserved for us became quiet as everyone decided that food in their mouths was better than happy chatter. Arlene Sorensen brought a very tasty cake and Nan Oblad had some excellent Rice Krispy Treats. Thanks to both of you for your contributions.
Rarely in life do you get a second chance at what could be a lifetime experience. What you are about to read is such an OPPORTUNITY!!! On Saturday, Oct 10th, the BMCU will have its last scheduled 2020 driving event, The Fall Color Tour. The Tour this year will be a repeat presentation of what was a breathtaking event a couple of years ago. Steen and Arlene Sorensen have, again, offered to invite the Club for lunch at their daughter’s backyard, before leading us on a Tour of the Fall Colors on the Nebo Loop road.
If you missed the Alpine Loop Run or remember the last time we went on the Nebo Loop road and know how FANTASTIC it was, DO NOT MISS this phenomenon. A chance like this is rarely ever repeated, so mark your calendar for October 10th. MORE INFORMATION TO FOLLOW!
