The weather was very British like in the morning as the group assembled at the O’Reilly auto parts in Kaysville. The skies started to clear as we departed towards the mountains and north on 89. The roads had only the occasional wet spots as we made our down Harrison Blvd. around and past El Monte golf course to Rainbow Gardens. We picked up a couple of LBCs as we departed Rainbow Gardens and started up Ogden Canyon.
The scenery and raging river were great as we made our way up the canyon and around Pine View. The trek through Ogden Valley, past the sparse homes and farms were pleasant. We had several locals wait at the 3 way stop to allow the group to pass along without interruption. The group made its way around Eden and through Liberty. As we started the climb up North Ogden divide all (almost all – except me) made the assent and decent into Ogden without a hitch. Unfortunately a small mechanical issue left an LBC on the side of the road “sulking”. I guess “soaking” would have been a better word for the rain cloud and then the painful hail as I made my way up and over the top.
Kirt’s Family Drive Inn welcomed the group with “Welcome British Car Club” on their main sign. We put on a good showing of LBCs for anyone driving by and stopping to take a look. Lunch was enjoyed and the usual “getting reacquainted” and meeting of new run participants was followed by everyone saying their good bys and departing for home and other destinations.
Julie and Don Mc-Eligot – MX5 (have a AH BJ-9 and were down from Idaho Falls), Kent and Cathy Jensen – TR250, Steve Nelson – MGA Coupe, Rob Foye – XJ-S, Wade Ashby – TR6, Roger Davis – Alpine, Kevin Cowan – MGB, Jim Stover and Linda Jennings – TR6, Margaret and Larry Farrington – TR6, David Christensen – MGB, John Progress – MGA, Terry Rees – GT6, Keri and Melanie Bruce – TR6, Werner Prochaska, Paul Jaroch and Kacey Bruce rounded out the field. I’s sorry I did not get the drivers names of the Blue Spitfire and the Orange Midget that joined at Rainbow Gardens. My friend took pictures of almost all the LBCs as they traveled by in the canyon, except for 1 car he said was right on the tail of another and he was unable to get the picture – sorry Roger! If any one would like a picture of their car emailed to them, please send me your email address and which car and I will forward to you. Thanks for making the drive a great one!

Looks like no one knew what great British weather we were going to have. Except for one bout with some hail, everyone enjoyed a partly cloudy day with no precipitation at all! I missed the “Around the Lake Run” last year and I’m glad that I made it this year. The scenery going up Ogden Canyon was spectacular! And the views from the North Ogden Pass were amazing on BOTH sides.
Thanks for organizing this and thanks to Terry for being our guide. It was a wonderful outing for our LBC’s. Good Friends, Good Cars, Good Weather. That’s what the BMCU is all about!!!
