Thursday, 15 members of the BMCU enjoyed a fun filled and beautiful impromptu drive. Although the weather was a bit cloudy when we started, by the time we were heading up Provo Canyon, the sun was shining and the temperature was climbing. The road to the Squaw Peak Overlook is a challenging road that even a snake would have fun negotiating. I didn’t count them, but there were many switchbacks and steep overlooks that made the driving of our LBCs a blast!
Expecting an empty parking area, we were surprised to see a film crew filling the Overlook area. We squeezed our small vehicles into the few remaining places. The interest in our cars nearly stopped production, for the crew was as surprised to see us as we were them. Turns out that I knew a couple of the production people which made the interaction between our two groups a friendly encounter.
After taking pictures, enjoying the amazing view of Utah County, and talking with the Nordic Track crew, we hopped into our cars and headed back down the canyon for lunch at R&R BBQ. We asked the manager if it was ok to kind of take over one part of the restaurant. His reply was, since you have 15 people, why don’t you just use our banquet room. And so we did! The food was coming out of the kitchen almost faster than we could place our orders and walk to the tables. These guys were FAST!!!
