Date: Saturday September 24
Time: 8:30am for a 9:00am departure
Meeting location: Park-and-ride lot at the base of Big Cottonwood Canyon
We’re doing something a bit different this year, due to the increased traffic we’ve seen on the Alpine Loop drive in the last few years. As most of the traffic and parked cars are on the Provo side of the loop, we’re going to skip that part this year and take advantage of some newly paved roads elsewhere.
I’ll have more specifics in the next few days, but the route will be:
- up Big Cottonwood Canyon
- over Guardsman Pass
- down Pine Canyon to Midway
- over to Soldier Hollow
- up the Cascade Springs road
- down the Alpine Loop road to Provo Canyon
- over to Big Springs Park for lunch
With Guardsman, Pine Canyon, and Cascade Springs roads all nicely paved now we should have a great drive. I timed it out in my MGB a month or so ago and it’s about 2 hours of driving over some great roads. The Cascade Springs road in particular is now one of the best in the area
