BMCU Pursues Rainbow
Although the advertised rationale was a picnic at Trial Lake, a BMCU
outreach delegation on July 12 had as its secret motive a rendezvous
with the Rainbow Family in the Uintas, to assess shared interest in
nostalgic British vehicles. Unfortunately, the Family had vacated
without a forwarding address, so Plan A was reverted to.
The temperature was hotter than a Jaguar radiator in August, and the sun was merciless. Nevertheless, the route devised by substitute leader Doug Inman was creative (through locked gates past mega-buck homes in Deer Crest), and painstakingly crafted (sample computer generated step: "proceed 32 yards; estimated time 49 seconds").
The lunch destination at the Upper Provo River waterfall below Trial Lake on the Mirror Lake Highway was as beautiful as ever, though the flow was much reduced, due to the current drought conditions. Attending were Gary, Sandy and Margaux Lindstrom, Bruce Schilling and Tyler, Joe Chou and Ruby, J. Sorenson, Kathy and Floyd Inman, Todd and Connie Pixton, Bill and Julie Van Moorhem, Kevin McCloskey and Jay Shaw, Nick and Carol Coleman, Kendall and Connie Dewsnup, Bill Walton, Scott Welty and family, Sharon and Dan Forster.
