Lucas Befuddles Miners Day
Another wonderful day in Park City. The BMCU presented a wonderful variety of cars at the Annual Park City Miner's
Day Parade and Picnic over Labor Day. The weather was wonderful, the "slide" down Main Street was well
received by the thousands of spectators and the pre-arranged parking in the City Park all went without a flaw.
Except for one small problem with a TR Ignition, all of the cars performed wonderfully.
As for the TR, I had never heard of a Lucas ignition overheating while coasting downhill, but I guess there is
a first for everything.
The day began at our traditional parking spot at the very top of Main Street, where most arrived in time to wonder
down the street for a bit of breakfast. Then, at 11:00 AM sharp (which was kind of a surprise) the group began
their trek down through Historic Park City. Most of us just shut our engines down and coasted (save on fuel where
you can these days). The crowds lining the street where great. Plenty of waves, and as always the "nice car",
or "I used to own one just like that" comments.
At the bottom we moved over to Park Avenue where the crowds were even more appreciative of our toys. Then into
City Park where the Rotary Club always arranges parking next to the Miner's Hospital where we offered a mini car
show. Again, the crowds had an opportunity to see our LBC's up close and personal.
Many thanks to those participating, and an invitation to all those that missed out to join us next year.
Attending were: John Progress, John Hanson, Steve Nelson, Andrew and Jerry Frink, Michael and Mary Scoggins, Roger
Dotson with Jamie Monroe, Doug Wimer, Roger and Jill Davis, Richard and Bridget Goodman, Terry Rees, Steve Miller,
Mitch and Diane Johnson, Kathy and Floyd Inman, Sheree and Marv Marcus, Kathy Dougherty (Steve arrived late), and
MaryAnn Gilmore.
